LIAR

A new immersive theatre piece by Jonathan McGrath.

Jonathan was sexually abused as a boy, Ian was also abused as a boy, Ian viewed his abuse as a love story, an exotic encounter with a  father figure in a hotel room, to justify it to himself he reenacted the grooming and abuse years later on Jonathan as a child, this play studies the lies we tell ourselves as we untangle our childhoods and replay them as adults. By looking at the practice of Transactional Analysis this show uses this mangled relationship as a springboard to study the scripts we write and have written for us as children and how by becoming aware of the scripts and the habits we have ingrained within us we can change them and set ourselves free.

This play is a love story about the idea of love and lust and the damage its fingerprints can leave.
